This is a huge sword.
This is a huge sword that I think was given to Peter (Brandon’s assistant) as a gift right before the release. A guy from 17th Shard who was dressed as Wit from tWoK was holding it and let me take a snapshot of it. It says “The Way of Kings 8-31-10.” Freaking awesome.

This is obviously way overdue, so I’ll get right to it… WARNING: I don’t know the meaning of the word “brief.”

Monday, Aug 30, 7AM – I wake up and get ready, super excited to get my work day over with so that I can get to the party and have a good time.

It was quite a Journey that I will eagerly follow to its Destination of a planned ten books. As I read, I felt just about every emotion it is possible to feel – even love, which I now feel for the book itself.

Why start a site so soon?

Stormblessed.com opened to the public on July 4, 2010.  As Brandon Sanderson said in a blog post 8 days later, “A fansite for a book that isn’t even out yet is a bit baffling to me.”  The Way of Kings was released internationally on August 31, 2010 and immediately burst onto the New York Times bestseller list (#7), the Amazon top 100 (for hardcover and Kindle), and #1 on Audible.

Usually, a fansite starting up before a book release would be pretty crazy and impractical.  But this time was different.

The wait is over. Brandon Sanderson’s latest novel, The Way of Kings, is now available. This book is the first in a projected 10-volume epic fantasy series called The Stormlight Archive, and is a project that Sanderson has been working on for over a decade.
